Komodo Liveaboard FAQ

What makes Shenron different from other Komodo liveaboards?

Shenron is a boutique liveaboard focused on quality over quantity: max 8 guests (vs 14-20 on standard boats), Nitrox included free for all certified divers, a 4:1 diver-to-guide ratio, and 4 private ensuite cabins.

How much does a Komodo liveaboard trip cost?

Shenron trips start from €675 for 3 days / 2 nights and go up to €2,040 for 7 days / 6 nights. This includes accommodation, all meals, 3 to 4 dives per day, tanks, weights, and Nitrox for certified divers. Park fees are paid separately and depend on the route.

What diving certification do I need for Komodo?

Open Water certification is the minimum for north and central routes (with 20+ logged dives recommended). Advanced Open Water plus Nitrox is strongly recommended for south Komodo routes due to stronger currents, deeper sites and cooler water. We offer Advanced and Nitrox courses onboard if needed.

Is Nitrox included on Shenron liveaboard trips?

Yes, Nitrox (29-31%) is included free for all Nitrox-certified divers on every Shenron trip. Most Komodo liveaboards charge €100-200 extra. If you are not Nitrox certified, you can complete the PADI Enriched Air course onboard.

What is a Komodo liveaboard?

A Komodo liveaboard is a multi-day diving cruise aboard a boat that stays overnight in Komodo National Park, allowing you to dive 3–4 times per day across multiple sites — including remote locations only accessible by staying overnight.

Can beginners join the Shenron liveaboard?

Open Water divers with 20+ logged dives are welcome on north and central routes. Advanced Open Water is required for south Komodo. Newly certified divers with fewer than 20 dives should consider our day trips first.

How do I get to Labuan Bajo for the liveaboard?

Fly into Labuan Bajo (LBJ) from Bali (~1.5h), Jakarta, or Singapore. Arrive at least one day before departure — we can arrange airport transfers and hotel recommendations.

What equipment should I bring?

We provide tanks, weights and weight belt. Available to rent: full ScubaPro sets, dive computers, wetsuits, reef hooks, GoPro cameras.

Recommended to bring:

  • 5mm wetsuit with hood (south Komodo can be cold)
  • Your own dive computer
  • SMB and reef hook
  • Certification cards & logbook
Do Komodo liveaboards depart from Labuan Bajo?

Yes — Shenron liveaboard trips depart from and return to Labuan Bajo harbour. We recommend arriving the day before departure to avoid delays and start the trip stress-free.

Are park fees included in the liveaboard price?

Park fees are charged separately from the trip price. The exact amount depends on the route and current park regulations, so we always confirm the latest amount before departure for now it's ~€25-30/day.
