🦈 Manta Season 2026 — November to June

Komodo has mantas year-round, but the best encounters are split across two zones. South Komodo (Manta Alley): November to March, when plankton-rich waters draw large aggregations. Central Komodo: November to June, with reliable manta sightings throughout the dry season. November is the sweet spot — both zones active, far fewer boats.

🎯 Quick Answers — Komodo Diving 2026

Fast, practical answers to the most common questions about timing your Komodo dive trip.

When is the best time to see manta rays in Komodo?

Two zones, one extended season: South (Manta Alley) Nov–Mar and Central Nov–Jun.
South Komodo (Manta Alley): November to March is the peak window, with the largest aggregations in January–February when plankton floods in from the open ocean. Central Komodo: mantas are present November through June alongside the dry-season reef diving. November is the sweet spot — both zones are active simultaneously and the park is at its quietest. Experienced operators adjust itineraries daily based on sea state.

Is November a good time to dive Komodo?

Yes — and it's massively underrated.
November is a transition month between dry and wet season. Central Komodo sites are very reliable, water temperature is warm (27–29°C), the park is quiet and prices are lower than peak season. South Komodo starts firing up towards the end of the month — early November visitors sometimes catch the opening of manta season. If you want quality diving without the July–August crowds, November is one of the best months of the year.

What's the water temperature in Komodo?

Ranges from 24–26°C (dry season) to 27–30°C (wet season).
Practical rule: 3mm wetsuit works well for warm months (Oct–Apr). Many divers prefer a 5mm for June–August when cold upwelling can bring surprise thermoclines, especially in South Komodo.

Can you dive Komodo year-round?

Yes — but the best zone shifts monthly.
North/Central dominate April–October. South Komodo (Manta Alley) peaks November–March. Central also hosts mantas November–June. November is reliable at both manta zones. No month is a "write-off" if you work with an operator who adjusts daily.

How much does diving in Komodo cost per day?

Depends on trip type, inclusions and season. Use the calculator below for a fast estimate.
Park fees (~300,000 IDR/diver/day) are not included in displayed prices — they're paid in cash at the harbour. Dragon Dive Komodo packages include the fee and we brief you the morning of every trip. Full fee breakdown →

How far ahead should I book in 2026?

Under the new quota: 3–6 months for July–October.
The 1,000 visitor/day cap from April 2026 has fundamentally changed booking timelines. The South manta season (Nov–Mar) and Central manta season (Nov–Jun) are both filling faster. November and April–June offer more flexibility — but confirmed bookings are always protected even if the quota changes again.
