Common questions about the course
You need:
- PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
- Emergency First Response within last 24 months
- Minimum age 12 years
- Good physical fitness
If your EFR is expired, take our combo package to refresh it.
The course is moderately physically demanding. You'll need to:
- Tow tired divers for 100 meters
- Bring unconscious divers to surface
- Provide rescue breathing while towing
- Lift divers onto boats/platforms
Good fitness level recommended but not athletic level required.
The course is challenging but fun! We create controlled stress situations to build your confidence. You'll be surprised how capable you become. Most divers say it's their most rewarding course - challenging but incredibly empowering.
We recommend a refresher if you haven't dived in 6+ months. The Rescue course requires good buoyancy control and comfort underwater. Consider arriving a day early for a warm-up dive or refresher session.
Yes! Rescue is the last recreational level before going pro. Requirements for Divemaster:
- Rescue Diver certification
- 40 logged dives to start (60 to certify)
- 18 years old
- Medical clearance
Many students continue directly to our Divemaster program.
